Due to increasing tourism pressure on some of the more established routes, the Kilimanjaro Park authorities constructed the Lemosho Route. As a result, it is one of the better-planned routes, offering lesser elevation rises, longer distances, and more time for acclimatization to the altitude, providing hikers with the best opportunity to reach the mountain’s peak.
The Lemosho Route on Kilimanjaro, taking around eight days to complete, is often recognized as the mountain’s most beautiful climbing path. Offering breathtaking views from around the peak, it is highly recommended for its stunning scenery and fewer crowds. For those seeking a well-organized and scenic climb, the Lemosho Route is an excellent choice.
Lemosho is our first option for climbing to the highest point in Africa. It provides amazing opportunities to acclimate, encounter untouched wildlife, and enjoy captivating vistas of the surrounding terrain. The route has a relatively small number of other climbers, adding to its appeal.
After a four-hour drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, you will find yourself on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, the route will take you to the renowned Shira Plateau. You will embark on a journey through various climate zones, starting in the alpine meadows and ending in the never-ending ice. The path is clear-cut and uncomplicated, with the highest success rate of any of Kilimanjaro’s routes.
Depending on your preference, you can choose from programs lasting six, seven, or eight days. Longer programs are always recommended over shorter ones as they enable better acclimatization. The 6- and 7-day Lemosho programs start with a high-altitude drop-off. An off-road vehicle will take you to an elevation of 3,500 meters (11,500 feet), where the hike begins. This is intended to speed up the acclimatization process, making it easier to adjust to the new environment.
As it provides hikers with expansive views of the mountain from several vantage points, the Lemosho trail is frequently referred to as Kilimanjaro’s most attractive hiking path. According to our observations, this route provides the ideal balance of solitude, breathtaking scenery, and a high likelihood of reaching the peak.
Our company has extensive expertise in leading treks on the Lemosho Route. Most of our clients ascend Kilimanjaro using this route, and they all concur that it was an incredible experience. For the 8-day Lemosho Route Climbing Kilimanjaro Trekking & Hikes package, our company offers skilled guiding services. Lemosho is, therefore, highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable and successful climb.
